Our client has been offering energy efficiency services on behalf of the Energy Saving Trust since 1993 and offers renewable energy project management to local and central government agencies. It has recently established a trading division offering photovoltaic installation services to domestic and commercial customers and has now achieved MCS approved installer status.

They are now looking for a Commercial Director to join the company and take a key role in defining future commercial strategy for the business as a whole, some key development priorities have been identified which will, initially, focus strongly on the solar division.

The Commercial Director will oversee the development of sales and marketing for the company as a leading solar PV installer in the East and West Midlands for both domestic and commercial sectors. They will look to develop and launch a PV wholesale business as well as developing and launching a network of associate or partner installers across the UK. The Commercial Director will take the lead on the development of these areas of business, working with the support of both fellow directors and highly skilled staff that are currently split between the Oldbury and Nottingham offices.

Candidates will possess a good working knowledge and understanding of the sustainable energy industry in terms of its structure, policy (such as the carbon emissions reduction target obligations) and basic underpinning business drivers (feed-in tariffs etc.). They will be highly numerate with excellent analytical skills, highly literate and be able to communicate effectively with fellow directors and senior managers. Candidates will also be highly motivated and have a proven track record in sales and marketing along with the desire to make their mark in a very fast growing industry.
